I lived at 35 Brookline Street (cambridge,
near central square) building. I would *not*
recommend it to anyone else. Why'

1. Unresponsive management. A problem developed with the phone line in our apartment (it turned out that wires had crossed due to shockingly sloppy installation), and management wouldn't send anyone. We had to call/pay for service
ourselves.

2. Insecure building. It was easier to
break into the building by carding the main
lock than to use the key, and we stopped
using the key. One winter night
I went to the basement to do laundry only
to find two homeless people sleeping there
(understandable given the weather, but how
did they get in')

3. The building is nasty. The 'fire escape'
in the back has probably been through a fire
(the banister and stairs are charred and
burned). The electric wiring was terrible
in our unit. Anytime we ran multiple computer
monitors and a vacuum simulataneously, the
circuit breaker tripped and the entire
apartment plunged into darkness. This was
amusing the first time and really annoying
by the 15th time.

4. Marijuana smell/smoke in the hallways
was not uncommon.

To try to add a few good points, location
is good (convenient to Star Market, the T).
The Man-Ray club next door can get a little
noisy Thu/Fri/Sat nights, but it makes for
an entertaining and safe walk home.
