If you like mice, mold, and awful management, here's your apartment.

Years at this apartment: 2003 - 2004
I started living in the Parkside in August 2003, and extended my lease until the end of January 2005. I have never been so happy to be to moving out of somewhere.
1. The management sucks. I asked to further extend my lease (before things got really bad) and they said they would. Then they called to ask to show my apartment. My lease was (luckily) never extended. Update: Last week they decided that I had extended my lease after telling me I had not. I argued with them and they agreed to honor the lease only through the end of January. Sadly, I don't believe them.
2. An entire wall of my bedroom was puffed up with water and mold when I moved in. It was fixed, and I was told they would be fixing the outside of the building to stop the leaks within a few months. It has been over a year. My wall is full of mold and water again. One of my closets is unuseable due to the mold.
3. The access system requires a code or a card. I was told the system would be changed by January 2004, because they were out of access cards. The system is still the same and it is very difficult to enter the code when you have your hands full.
4. MICE. I have had mice for NINE MONTHS. I still have mice. It's just ridiculous.
5. It's noisy. The walls may as well not be there. I have a neighbor who enjoys playing video games at all hours of the night. It couldn't be any louder if he was in my apartment.
6. The management still sucks. They will call at 9 am and say "can i show your apartment at 11am today'" When you politely tell them you need more notice, they will bring the prospective renters to your apartment, knock on the door and have the keys out in their hands. Sometimes they don't ask to show your apartment, they tell you. One day I was home sick and didn't answer my phone when they called. One of their leasing agents was at my door within 20 minutes of their call with the keys in his hand. He asked if he could show my apartment right then and I told him I was home sick from work, and that it wasn't a good time. He proceeded to try to discuss with me, repeatedly saying "are you sure there's no way I could show your apartment'" "There's absolutely no way I could get in there to show it'"
7. The elevator is broken constantly. It, along with the outer wall and access system will never be fixed.
8. There's nothing like a fire alarm going off at 3 am because they failed to maintain their plumbing system and several apartments are flooding and shorting out the fire alarm system.
9. This place is a high price slum with ------ management. Go find somewhere else.
On the positive side, the concierges are very helpful.
