I lived here a few years, and there were some serious problems with the building and the management.
The charm of an old building also come with mice that live in the walls, paper thin walls that keep the neighbor's music close to your house. Everything fell apart over the course of two years, given that all the cabinets were made of particle board and had been there since the 80s. There was no dishwasher and the deathly slow elevator was being renovated for 8 months, with no improvement on speed.
Also, there are a certain percentage of section 8 tenants that live here as well as some rowdy college students. One night there were human feces on the wall, vomit and beer cans in common areas were a regular weekend occurrence. Every time I had a problem with noise or security, the 24 hour security guards would do nothing.
The rent was pretty affordable, given the fact that utilities were included, but I wouldn't live here again unless some serious renovations were done to the building, which would drive up rents anyway.
