Conversation goes like this:
Them: Your renewal is up, if you sign up for a year we'll give you 1.5 months free. The base rate went up $100 / month, but with the 1.5 free you'll be paying less than you were.
Renter: Your current promotion on Craigslist/for new renters is for 3 free months, can I get that'
Them: No, that's for new people
Renter: Ok, I'll just do a short term lease while I look for a new place
Them: There is a $200 / month surcharge for month to month and the base rental is $50 more per month than what I told you a few minutes ago. And anything in the range of 2-6 months has a $175 surcharge.
On a side note, while touring thier other property in Braintree, Lenox Farms, as a potential, I found out that the Ridge at Blue Hills is a dumping ground for the Section 8's from Lenow Farms. While touring the property I asked the staff what % was Section 8 (low income housing) and they said "Oh, we met our quota here by increasing the Section 8 at The Ridge". Given that Lenox Farms is a larger property and has 0 Section 8's, have fun with the neighbors at Ridge at Blue Hill. AD2Hw9Wn8Umb3NN1w1jt

I think you are the rudest and most incompetent person ever to have written a review about an apartment community. You CAN NOT discriminate against people because they have Section 8, especially in the housing/apartment rental industry. Not for nothing, my cousin kills herself at her job and is still barely making ends meet after a horrible divorce, yet she gets declined for Section 8. I am sure some people who have vouchers are hard working and decent - not all of them are the stereotype we give them (dirty, lazy, filthy... etc). Secondly - who cares what it on Craig??s list? They are a business too and they need to survive in today??s economy. They were willing to give you 1.5 months free if you renewed, which is better than nothing. Besides, each apartment is unique in its own way an therefore prices vary. You cannot compare your apartment size, interior design, location, or quality to those advertised online. Maybe they are smaller or not in as nice of an area as your apartment. Working in the apartment business myself, I frequently get aggravated by people like you who are so blind that they always think they are being ripped off. I want the most for my money too, as anyone else would - but you are just an uneducated fool who is not so much frugal but rather an arrogant individual. - For shame. I will visit this property as I am looking for a luxurious community that is pet friendly; and I will be open-minded, not judging those around me.

I guess I can't have 2 responses to you... Feel free to take my apartment, as I've left and I am in a bigger place, that has real granite, an attached garage, and great staff and neighbors. My comment about 8A may have been off, but it was another thing that rubbed me the wrong way, so I posted it with an off comment. Maybe the ridge just needs a better screening process to keep certain people out, 8A or not (maybe they wouldn't have let me in!). I never said 8A people were(dirty, lazy, filthy..) like you suggest, I just think that if they are going to put up apartments using Section 8A to skirt local zoning that each property should have the required 8A. I think it is great for people like your cousin.
My second comment (that wiped out my original first) was that you are a bit of a hypocrite. I saw your review for Weymouth Commons Apartments where you said you negotiated to get the current market offer during your renewal and you told someone else who to talk to. Yet you blast me for complaining about the Ridge's policy of screwing renewals. Don't you think Weymouth Commons is a business too and need to survive in today's economy?!

Either way, I hope you do end up at the Ridge if that is your cup of tea. Of course, in your other review you say you just renewed at Weymouth Commons in June of this year, so I doubt you are serious. And hey, at least I didn't complain about the rug rats at The Ridge (like the other person you commented to). I don't see anything wrong with them, seems that some adults here are louder and more obnoxious than any kid I've ever seen here.

Everyone has a right to live among people whom they choose to - period. This is not a moral issue.
