This place is awful... We also had a problem with ants in the bathroom - and we live on the second floor! Maintenance is lackluster at best - the solution to loose sockets in an electrical outlet was to bend the prongs on the appliance I was trying to plug in instead of fixing the outlet. I had a problem with dampness on my bathroom ceiling and it was caulked over. When I was taken on a tour before I rented, I was shown a lovely clean laundry facility with a counter for folding and 3 sets of machines and a seating area... and I was told they were all similar. The reality is that the one in the building where my apartment is located is 2 sets of machines shared between 24 apartments, no folding counter, no seating area and it's filthy. The snow and ice removal is a joke, the parking areas are barely plowed, the walkways are dangerous with ice and you're not allowed to store a snow shovel in the common areas.
Worse is that when I recently did a search on some rental sites I discovered that I was paying the same rent for my tiny 1-BR as the lowest price listed in the range for a 2-BR. You could have the exact same apartment as your next door neighbor and be paying $300-$400 more a month in rent.
I can hear the people upstairs walking around and you can hear all the neighbors showers. The locks are shoddy and the trash is not picked up often enough. The dumspter always seems to be overflowing. The absolute worst though is the stench from the sewage treatment plant - it doesn't matter what time of year it is... if the wind is right it can gag you. On really bad days, you can even smell it inside your apartment with the windows ahut. We are seriously looking to rent elsewhere because I can't take much more of this. I can't recommend this place to anyone.
