Closest thing to tenement housing in Brookline

Teel Realty and its staff (management & maintenance) is probably the closest thing you will get to tenement-style, slum lord management in all of Brookline. Although the exterior of the 120 Babcock Street complex seems livable, the interior is a different story. For example, the "live-in" super rents apartments to his family members (who live 4 people to a 1-person apartment), extorts money for simple fix-it jobs, and uses duct tape to do most repairs around the apartments. The front door lock has been broken for nearly a year, and the complex was just cited for waste management infringements. There is a bug-problem. The heating is loud enough to wake you up all winter, and most importantly, management is non-responsive at best and duplicitous at worst. I would write more, but there is not enough room. The best thing I can say is that the relatively large apartments are fairly cheap.

Couldn't agree more... living conditions at 238 Hemenway were hell. The staff was rude, broke the terms of the lease and did not refund the full security deposit. Avoid TEEL REALTY at all costs, especially if you are a professional looking for a place to live in the city and do not want to deal with a low-life and unresponsive management company.
