Great for Students and Commuters

Lived at Towne Estates for 4 years now and its been a good experience. My unit was on the first floor which wasn't the best thing, the unit above us had hardwood floors installed. Try getting a top floor unit.

The landscaping and grounds are always maintained. During the winter, their snow removal is VERY poor! Sometimes ive waited 24-36hrs to get plowed out. The pool is great for the summer, lots of room to get some sun!

But the best part of this complex is the location to everything. 5 minute walk to the Green Line (Boston College). 5 minute drive to the Mass Pike.

Some good infomation for those wanting to rent there:
- The complex gives you free cable but its only the basic channels. You will need to spend the extra $90-100/month to get digital cable and internet access.
- Electric bills have been very high, my average during the winter was $110/month and $200/month during the summer.
- Ask to get your AC unit upgraded, this makes a big difference in getting cold air.
- You have a limit on guest spots every year, you are allowed up to 30 overnights. After that you have to spend $70 for another 30 spots.
- Most units are two parking spots, additional spots will cost $25-35/month.
- They dont take out the trash enough, you will find it overflowing too much.
- Load of laundry (wash and dry) costs $3.50. This got very expensive when doing multiple loads a week.
- Storage in the basement is a joke. Its maybe a 3x3 space.

Rent has gone WAY up over the last few years. My 3BR/2BA was $1800 back in 2003, when they are now renting for $2200-2300. With the additional costs (electricity, cable/internet, fees) its not very affordable anymore.
