While it is true that the management is rude and not really concerned with the residents, the building is not as bad as everyone else is claiming. True, the building is in need of repair, but it seems to be getting better (and I think the elevators have finally been fixed).
One of the really great things about this building is the concierge. If the office won't help you, and the maintainance is too busy, the on-duty concierge is always willing to help. Once the garage door wouldn't open and I had an appointment, so the concierge went down to the garage and opened the door manually (not an easy feat).
Moreover, my apartment was lovely and had a great view of the Boston skyline. Plus, it's in a great location due to its T access.
As Shakespeare once wrote in "Julius Caesar", "The fault, dear Brutus, is not in the stars, but in ourselves...(I, ii, 140-141)" I think this applies to much of the criticism aimed at the Barclay. Many of my fellow residents are rude, pushy, and believe the world revolves around them. Once I saw a woman chew out one of the staff simply because the elevator didn't come fast enough. I remember thinking, "Hey lady, the laws of mechanics cannot be bent because you're in a rush."
