OK for what you pay

I live in the Brighton apartments with 2 roommates. Overall, I've been satisfied with CHR.
Pros: Maintenence is fast and helpful. Whatever the problem, we've always had it fixed in 48 hrs. or less. There is plenty of space for the 3 of us (in a 3-bedroom). I think the price is reasonable. We pay $1975 for the 3-bedroom, and it's only going up $50 next year. All the appliances (oven, dishwasher, disposal, etc) work well. The location is great. Very nice neighborhood near the B,C,and D lines They had spaces for 3 cars--very rare! It has character. Nice hardwood floors. The few times I've had to deal with management, they've been about as helpful as you'd expect management to be (not overly helpful, but appropriate). Laundry on property--no laundromats! Updated wiring. Just redid the hallways and it looks great! Well-heated--you won't be freezing in the winter, and you don't have to pay for heat or hot water. No smoking. No undergrads (professionals and grad students only). My two roommates lived in another apartment on the same property, then moved to a bigger one when I moved in, and management was very helpful. We didn't have to do another security deposit, they gave them lots of flexibility on the lease, and they treated us nicely to keep our business.
Cons: Have to go to building next door to do laundry. Broken washers and dryers take ages to get fixed. $1.50 per load. Small bathroom for 3 women. In spite of the fall extermination, we had a 4-legged roommate behind the oven through the winter. (But it is an old Boston apt., so what do you expect' Also, we never called maintance, so it's partially our fault.) Heat is sometimes too strong and you can't turn it down any further, so you'll open your windows even in January. (We had a very noisy, very hot radiator, and when we called maintenence, it only became hotter). No pets, period. Verizon cell phones get a weak signal; others get none. Plan on getting a land line. We have neighbors with very wild children and the whole building can hear them, but they don't wake me up or anything.
Overall, though, I think we got a great place for what we pay. I've been in friends' apartments and most of them are not this nice for the price.
