We actually lived at a neighboring building managed by Salter & Kahn (not Classic Realty as this site indicates--this is, presumably, a realtor, but not the management company), who also manage 1353 Beacon, so our apartment was slightly different. However, all of the buildings date back to the nineteenth century with beautiful old Brookline architecture. They've been renovated (though nothing high end--just the basics) and are generally kept up well. Salter & Kahn are great as a management company. The big drawbacks to our building were lack of laundry (though I believe 1353 does have a basement machine), parking problems (it's find-your-own, and pricey), lack of recycling, and periodic problems with mice (though the management company was quite responsive). Generally great about fixing things, even changed lightbulbs, etc. for us. Rent went up $100/month every year. aLKeoXpj3s4OSgrp1trb
