Years at this apartment: 2002 - 2005
We lived in Longwood Towers for 3 years and really liked the community that was living there. Many smart, interesting people from all over the world. We loved our apartments -- they were charming and had great closet space. BUT...the windows will not fix the water problems. It is a masonry issue combined with a lack of flashing and bad windows. It's only in certain apartments because of the direction they face. We had an apartment with no water issues on one side, and major ones on the other. Not pretty.
The lobby is used for wedding photos, which is a pain. And it can get loud there. The condo conversion seems to be stripping the building of it's community...which is sad. The location is also amazing...location to Boston, shops, walking to school for the kids...It was our favorite place ever to live.
BUT...Even if we didn't move out of state, knowing what we know about the building we would never pay those exorbitant prices to buy. Esp since once the building is sold, it's up to the condo assoc to fix the issues...and that will only end up costing the homeowner at Longwood Towers a lot more money.
Finally, ask mgt about the safeguards for the rear entry doors.
