I lived at Pelham Hall for six years from 1999 to 2005. I had a beautiful studio that I adored.
Pelham Hall is fabulous because of the location of the building. It has to be placed in the greatest location right in the heart of Coolidge Corner! You can't beat walking to Trader Joe's and Brookline Booksmith.
The building is beautiful. I loved the hallways. 1920's architecture is fabulous. The building was completed in 1926.
The downside to PH were the walls. I'm sure all my neighbors heard my phone conversations because I heard many of theirs!
I could hear chatting, laughing, music, and the noise coming from our sometimes loud Coolidge Corner neighborhood.
I also had woes with parking. I never was given a full time parking spot by management despite being on the list for six years. They originally claimed I had requested to be removed from the list. Only then after my first year, was I put back on and five years later never given a spot. I managed to get part time parking through management, but that meant moving my car every weekeday by 8am.
In lieu of this, I did like the location and historic beauty of this building!

Pelham Hall is indeed a great place to live even though your dollars buy less square footage here than in some other apartment buildings. Thin walls were not an issue in my studio. On rare occasions I could barely hear one of my neighbors talking, but not what she was saying, and only from a small portion of my studio (which was among the smaller studios at Pelham Hall). The place is very quite, without rowdy college students that you are likely to find in apartments in Allston, Brighton, and around Kenmore Square.
Parking is tight, but I never felt the need to own a car while living there. Trader Joe's and Post Office are across the street; there are lots of stores and restaurants within 5 minute walk (including Stop&Shop, 2 bookstores, 3 pharmacies, movie theater). The Longwood Medical Area and Kenmore Square are 15 minute walk away; downtown Boston is 15-20 minutes away on the Green Line (the inbound St. Paul St. stop is a short block away from the building; the outbound Coolidge Corner is just outside of the building). If you ever need a car, there are lots ZipCar and other car rental locations nearby (ZipCar is great if you need a car for a couple of hours) and there is lots of metered parking nearby. If you have an overnight guest with a car, you can get a permit from Brookline City Hall for one of the city parking lots around Coolidge Corner.
