The office people are rude and try to make you feel like you are the problem, rather than the broken water heater, for example.
The floors are paper thin and the floorboards are loose.
What is worse - they change the lease 'without' informing you. I believe that is illegal.
Finally, there was a shooting here last year due to the numerous drug dealers that live in this apartment complex, and rather than show concern for the safety of their tenants, the leasing office instead sent out a memo instructing us to remove any and all items from our balconies, otherwise, they were going to fine us $10.00 per day. The memo closed by informing us that it is OUR responsibility to be safe here, and that they had no legal liability towards the safety of their own tenants. It is obvious that the leasing manager has not familiarized herself with the Massachusetts Landlord/Tenant laws, which specifically states that landlords of any apartment complex that holds more than 2 units are required to provide security to their tenants.
Move here only if you want to lower your standard of living

After reading this review I wonder....can anyone promise safety in today's world it appears that this person who wrote this review does not live in the 20th century...no one can promise you safety and if they do their lying to you.

To Crosby9878...of course no one can promise safety in today's world but the biggest joke here is the fact that Archstone turns a blind eye to important stuff like shootings/drug dealing but sends out memos about keeping our balconies clean and not putting welcome mats in the hallways so that our buildings can look uniform. Give me a break. They didn't even bother to water the grass in the lower half of the complex last summer.

To justtruthful & Sam4221117,just so you know apartment communities don't know everything that happens in the community when they are not there the police are not obligated to tell them unless there is something the police need them to do. What do you want them to send you and FYI that there has been a shooting and the person was caught would that have made you feel better? It is up to the community to help each other just like if you lived in a house. I have lived at Archstone Burlington for 4 yrs. and work for the real estate industry and have the greatest respect for people that try and put up with people that judge without asking questions. If you took the time to ask you would know that the community manager is not getting petty. The memos and letters that are sent out are required by Archstone as a company to try and keep animals like you tame.

I think that being that we have a war going on and our fellow Americans are losing their lives, you are all petty. I lived here for nearly 7 years and had no problems. I dealt with worse as a homeowner. Ladies, have a drink and get over it.

To Justmoretruthful: First of all the ignorance of someone who calls me an animal without knowing me actually proves the whole point of this review. If you work in the real estate industry then your profession is a sad joke if that is the way you judge people, but then again that is what started this article, "rude staff." I can point you in the direction of some great sensitivity training classes. Now as I recall, the morning of the shooting I walked outside with my children and there were helicopters above, men in army fatigues coming out of the woods with automatic weapons, police cruisers everywhere, state police, local police and you are going to say that the office had no idea what was going on? The police did not tell them/you? Now Archstone is always pushing the community angle, so in answer to your question...Yes, I think a memo stating that there was a shooting (which is a safety issue when an armed felon is loose in your neighborhood) and also when he/they had been caught would have been good community relations. Also, no it is not the same as living in a single family home, this is apt. complex living, where we look to a management staff for certain things, especially issues that effect the entire "community." I know that I never had a community manager when I lived in a single family home. One of the reasons why I moved into a complex. Too bad this one has just gone down hill so bad. Last but not least you stated in your response about how much respect you had for people that put up with people who judge without knowledge. Well I will ask again? What did you judge me as without knowing me? "An animal that needs to be kept tamed?" Oh and just shove your foot in your mouth a little further, the office manager knows quite a bit more than she lets on, I have this from a very lawfull authority. Have a wonderful day. Don't forget to send out those memos about those lease violations...shhhh, I think I saw a blanket hanging over the railing by bldg 4! shhh you didn't hear it from me!

To Chino 69: Of course, you are so right. You know what? I am just going to ignore the fact that I have a heroin dealer living next to me because there is a war going on and people are losing their lives. To hell with the fact that the guy upstairs beats the ---- out of his wife all the time and my kids have to hear it because there is a war going on and people are losing their lives. As a matter of fact why don't we just send all the police home, quit our jobs, and forget about everything in our own backyards and just have a drink because there is a war going on and people are losing there lives. Sounds like a plan to me. Thanks Chino! What would we do without guys like you?
