Review of 3 bedroom in Beacon Village.

I had originally written a decent review of Beacon Village, but that was after I had just moved in. It needs to be modified.
Beacon Village was simply unprofessionally managed. The parking lot is a very poor design, with some cars parked perpendicular to others, which causes accidents especially in the snow. Many of the units are actually condos, so the management isn't really sure how to handle the renters. The grounds are nice enough, but kids leave toys all over the walkways. But these are all typical problems.
Our real problem was that we started living there in 2000, and the next year when we were going to renew our lease, we received a letter stating that our rent was being raised from 1675 to 2050 a month!!!! In ONE YEAR! They explained that it was due to construction that would be done to beautify the property! I have never heard of residents being charged to be inconvenienced and woken up by the sounds of construction and having to pay for it BEFOREHAND. We told them we would be moving out and they didn't seem to care.
Other problems were: Only 1 old coin-op washer and dryer for 6 units. Icy bridges from parking lot to units. Understaffed office for picking up packages, rarely open when working people can get there. Dirty swimming pools. Glass and cigarette butts on the playground. Termites, ants, spiders, earwigs. Frequent loss of power (this is the town, though... Burlington has always had that problem). Angry condo owners who didn't want renters to be there.
I would not recommend this property, and it was probably the worst apartment I have lived in. For them to try to jack the rent up so much in one year should be illegal, and is in many states. Unbelievable how little they seemed to care about keeping good renters in the property. We paid on time, in full, were quiet and courteous neighbors... you'd think they'd want to keep someone like that, but they only offered to reduce our rent increase by 30 dollars. Clearly they did not care whether or not we stayed.
