I am the manager of this property. The residents never returned their move-in checklist after they moved in and they were charged $50 for removal of stains in the carpet that were not there when they first moved in. Resident fails to mention that they transferred within the property and we waived the transfer fee because of her health issues. We are not bad people here.

I am the resident, and I know I turned in the move-in checklist, and there were numerous stains on the carpet and I know I counted the number of stains on the carpet. It is very convenient after 6 months to say "we never received it", when it is too late to do anything about it. Not to mention that to cover their bases they make you sign and date a blank move-in checklist at the very moment you sign the lease, even before you move in. I have never seen this done anywhere else. The apartment was also not cleaned properly before we moved in and this was mentioned in the now-missing checklist as well.
The funny thinbg is that one of the maintenance issues mentioned on that now-missing checklist was addressed after we turned it in, which could not have happened if they did'nt have the list in the first place.
Yes, they did waive the transfer fee and I do appreciate that. But we had to sign a new lease for an additional 12 months, which would be 6 months more than the original lease period. So I dont see any favors being extended here. I just see a good business transaction that works out well for everyone involved. I would only consider the waiving of the transfer fee as any promotion that any apartment complex offers to retain and attract residents. So I think that needs to be kept out of this argument.
Unfortunately, we signed a new lease with them before all this happened, and this time I guess we need to be less naive and trusting of the management than the previous time.
I am certainly not accusing anyone of being "bad". I am only writing to alert others to what happened to me, and could just as well happen to them.
Needless to say, as I was trying to resolve this issue, the fact that I had posted on this website came up and I was told how the management was disappointed to see it.
