VIEW You pay for the view here; rent increases as you go up the apartment. Undoubtedly this place, right by the Charles, has the best possible view of the Boston skyline.
CONVENIENCE 5 minutes to i93; 3 minutes to mass ave; 2 minutes to Longfellow; 0 minutes to the MIT campus; 1 block from Kendal T; this is prime location and the price reflects it.
PARKING 130/month for an assigned spot; park on the street if you don't mind parallel parking into tight spots.
FACILITIES This is a 1950s apartment; the kitchen (stove, countertops), bathroom, and piping clearly reflects it. "cozy retro look" is a euphemism for "the balcony and stairwell take up 200 sq ft and the oven looks like it runs on wood." Laundry costs $4, but at least the equipment is decent.
ROOMS Major flaws with insulation and poor heating system. An extra electric heater is an essential for every room. The 1950s fan used for forced-air heating will run up $300/month in electric bills in the winter alone.
MANAGEMENT People only say "hi" to management out of politeness; nobody cares about him. Your identity will be questioned even if you greet them everyday for 2 months. In general they will screw up your paperwork, give you erroneous penalties and warning notices at least once per quarter-year.
WHY WOULD YOU LIVE HERE If you really want to have convenience of commuting, or if you really can't find anywhere else, or if you have extra money to throw around. Save this as a last resort.
