I live on the highest floor in this building. We get spectacular views of the sunrise over the Boston skyline/financial district/Beacon Hill/Back Bay each morning from our living room and balcony ... and equally spectacular sunsets over the MIT dome/Mass Ave Bridge/Fenway/Boston University from our bedrooms. I love the views.

Since I don't cook (much), the small kitchen doesn't bother me. We've never had a problem with roaches (see other posts) or bugs. The new property manager, Brian, has made all the difference in the world ... he's really great! The concierges are good, although the overnight ones have an attitude. At times, especially during the summer, you can hear people talking loudly out on their balconies ... some of our bedrooms are very close to these balconies. When we call down to the concierge to ask them to take action, it doesn't feel as though they understand the concept of good service. The night concierges have not been trained to realize that they are here to serve the residents. Instead, they treat us poorly and disrepectfully.

Except for this, and except for the fact that we get huge rent increases each year - - that need to be re-negotiated each time (a tiresome process, considering market value of apartments in this area has gone DOWN), it's hard to think about leaving, despite the fact that we know that much more modern facilities exist around Boston, at prices comparative to what we're currently paying.

But none of them have our view ... not even close. We are paying for the view, and we know it.
