Great Layout, Good Residents, Horrible Management

Years at this apartment: 2008 - 2009
My boyfriend and our roommate have been living in this apartment complex for 1 year. We were really happy with the actual apartment. Fairly modern, pretty clean and had a more "home-y" town home feel rather than an apartment.
Carpet sheds A LOT in most of the apartments...regular vacuuming required especially if you have asthma/allergy issues. AC is a wall unit that is very loud (no central air). Washer and dryer in unit cost money to use. Water pressure seems to be kind of off in the bathrooms AND kitchen. Street lights are VERY bright and will keep you up at night unless you cover the blinds with something else.
For the most part, neighbors were great. Nice to see all the families, it's a ethnically & socioeconomically diverse community. I wish the complex would have held socials to help residents meet one another and mingle. A few residents were involved in local crimes including: a drive by shooting, an attempted stabbing at CVS in central square and other crimes :(.
Management (especially Ms. Simmonian) is AWFUL & disrespectful. Did not respect our privacy and brought new prospective tenants all through the apartment without calling for prior approval. Seems to cater to the section 8 residents and not care about people who actually pay rent. Very quick to send us threatening letters about missing rent checks when THEY were the ones who misplaced our checks! :( Tried to raise the rent even though rent was going down in the area as a result of the economy.
Parking is extremely tight in lot, and it is hard to find parking on the street if you don't get a pass.
Pet policies are inconsistent. We were not allowed to have pets in our apartment but other tenants are.
