Way too many problems and lies

CambridgePark Place is likely to give you more headaches than you can imagine. We were lied to from the start by the leasing agents and management company and continue to get the proverbial runaround.

Here are just a few of the problems life at CambridgePark Place will bring you...

1. High speed internet access is a joke. You'll get good bandwidth at 3 am, but at peak hours it will be worse than dial-up. I have tested it many times with CNET's and other bandwidth testers. 25K is a frequent occurrence. I've been told by many times by management that another T1 is being put in and also been told that it is in, but not activated yet. Oh, and don't bother getting upset if connectivity goes down for a week because it won't bother management. They'll just tell you it is your problem and to follow up with the provider on your own. Never mind that they have a contract with the provider, Solantic, that prohibits you form using another Internet or Cable TV provider.

2. As for cable TV, this comes from Solantic too (no you don't have any other choice). It is a repackaged version of Direct TV's basic package. I say repackaged because you don't even get all of Direct TV's basic package channels. Solantic must have gotten a deal to give the end-user fewer channels. My guess is they are pocketing the profit. When I inquired about getting channels added, my request went into the circular file, never to be heard of again.

3. Remember dorm life and those nasty fire alarms that woke you up in the middle of the night every time some idiot forgot to study for a final' Well, welcome back to dorm life! You'll be rudely awoken by the fire alarm at least twice a month.

4. Forget about what the leasing agent says. IF YOU DON'T GET IT IN WRITING IT ISN'T TRUE. They will tell you many lies to get you to sign the lease. Read every page, because there are likely to be some "fine print" items not previously mentioned.

5. The noise level is not great. The walls are somewhat thin and you can hear all the conversations going on in the hallways. You know when your neighbor is doing laundry and when the person above you is using the bathroom.

5. A new management company recently took over - this is just a guess, but I think the original company got out because the low occupancy means the building wasn't making them any money. Regardless of the reason, the majority of the management staff, while predominately friendly to deal with, seem rather powerless to help the tenants. So you can complain at length with little to show for it. I think this is by far the biggest failing of all I have mentioned.

There are a few shining stars working at the building - one concierge and one manager stand out as continually helpful and cheery. But overall, management seems content to inhibit any sends of friendliness and community about the place.

I hope this helps you make an educated decision and avoid any painful mistakes. Don't be deceived by this trompe l'oeil
