Church Corners Apartments

No headaches From: -Anonymous- Date posted: 12/2/2005 Years at this apartment: 2004 - 2005   The units are well maintained and the location is wonderful. Being on the Franklin Street side, we had no problems with street noise, but the Green Street side is reputedly much worse. The prior review complaining about the Greek American Political Club is not lying. At one point, there was a sign posted in the elevators by one of the residents trying to put together a petition to shut the loud music down. The sound insulation between apartments is great, but you can definitely hear what's going on in the hallway. The heat insulation is great. We didn't need to use the heat or A/C that often. Which is a good thing because the climate control is on the loud side, although not terrible. The management is nice and friendly but a little flaky. I usually had to ask twice before maintenance came by. Package delivery was also inconsistent. Sometimes, an overnight package would sit in the management office for a couple of days before I found out about it. Also, there would often be nobody in the management office around to let the FedEx/UPS guy in, so you'd see a lot of the "we tried to deliver the package but couldn't" stickers on the building entrance. Don't be fooled into thinking that the management office also functions reliably as a doorman/concierge; if you're receiving an urgent package, have it sent to your office, not to Church Corner. I noticed the overall level of flakiness ticked up after Winn sold the building to Equity Residential in 2004. However, I did get my security deposit back promptly after I left. Overall, I think this is one of the best rental buildings in Cambridge, provided you're not looking for ultra-high-end luxury. I look back upon my time at Church Corner with fondness.
