Expensive, but you get what you pay for

My husband and I have lived here for a year and a half, and we love the building. The rent is high, but you get what you pay for. I can't believe this building doesn't have a website because it is by far the best among the ones we toured in Cambridge, for the money (for only a couple hundred bucks more you get much better amneities than Church Corner.... we did not want to go one more step up the price ladder to Kennedy Biscuit Lofts and the other lofts right down the street).
You will not find a quieter apartment anywhere in Cambrdige. The walls in the building are thick and I very rarely hear anything from neighbors. I work from home all day so this is important to me. Your unit might louder if you face the street directly, but mine is set back from the street. Once in a blue moon (myabe 2-3 times since we've lived there) there has been street music that I could hear, but if the noise ever gets too bad you can call Cambridge PD and they will deal with it.
The closets, rooms, and hallways are spacious. It's the best apartment kitchen I've ever had with deep counters and plenty of storage space. Bathrooms and everything else is up to date. Individually controlled heat and AC. Secure doors. Our carpet was a little dirty and I wish they had replaced it before we moved in, but it's better in other apartments that I've been in. Overall still OK.
Maintenance has generally been responsive, although I have not needed them much because everything is in excellent condition to begin with. Occasionally you might have to replace a bulb in the fixture or something or get them to unclog the disposal. Nothing has ever broken or needed real repair, though. The place is swarming with cleaning and maintenance folks so if you needed something fixed it could probably be done.
The staff is courteous, friendly, and helpful. The other tenants are almost all young professionals, some with children, and I've never had problems with any of them.
The building is fairly secure. Sometimes doors are propped open that should not be, but overall, it is very safe given your other options in Cambridge. You are between the police and fire stations; this makes for the occasional siren (welcome to life in Cambridge) but it also means you are safe. Fire system in this building is very up to date and they test it 4 times per year to make sure.
The location cannot be beat. You are near convenience stores, grocery down the street, drycleaners, shopping, the T, Harvard, MIT, and great restaurants. Easy to get to the Pike.
Laundry is not in the units; it is down the hall. This is the only thing I wish were different, but even so, it is much better than having to go to a basement or a laundrymat to do your washing. It's still very convenient and it's usually not crowded. Because the building is secure you can drop in a load, go back to your apartment, and then come back when it's done.
Parking is expensive, another $150 per month, but it is very secure and out of the snow. This is about the going rate in Cambridge. Also your spot is reserved so you never have to look for a space.
I don't want to sound like a Pollyanna, but having lived in Cambridge for 7 years, I can say this is a great value for the money. Unless you need a giant super-upscale loft (in which case, go down the street to KBL), this is the place for you, if you have the money. You will not regret moving here.
