We went to the realtor for the Sidney Street Apartments and the Kennedy Bisquit Lofts. The agent quickly whipped us through the lofts like speedy Gonzales and dodged every question we asked about occupancy and the "mold" issue. She quoted us inflated rental prices and then knocked off $200 and offered 3 months free rent like she was doing us a favor. She was evasive when we asked her about how many units were occupied and told us that they would be filled by the end of the year (in 2 months) We noticed as we were walking behind the building that there were a huge number of windows open despite it being extremely cold and windy in Boston today. Let me emphasize cold. Perhaps they were trying to breathe some air not contaminated by mold. The demo she showed us had a distinctive moldy odor that permeated the entire unit. The apartment smelled like excessive carpet deodorizer on top of mold. The air was thick with it and we were zipped through the apartment quickly. The other demo contained a room that was clearly off balance and leaned down at about a 20 degree angle that she pretended not to notice until we brought it up.It also had a moldy musky smell. My husband and i both had irritated airways when we left. we could not stop coughing and clearing our throats for hours. There is quite clearly mold in the air which can lead to serious complications especially for sensitive children and adults. I would definitely not want to burn 30-40,000 a year on renting a place that makes you sick to your stomach.
Who re-habbed this place!! Did anyone stop to think that maybe converting a factory that used to bake bread and cookies might possibly have used yeast that just might have gotten into the ventilation system and permeated the entire building''' I mean look at the oven in that place. Yes they left the oven behind. They had to!! It's so huge and it's built into the infrastructure of the freakin building, what else could they do!! Don't move into this place!!
