Been here almost a year. Will most likely renew my lease.

THE GOOD: ------------------------------------------------------------ The view is fantastic. I love waking up and looking out over Fresh Pond; I can spend hours gazing out the window. Around the pond is also a nice, safe place to bike, walk, jog, or picnic. There are several playgrounds, a tennis court, and a golf course nearby.
The quality of each unit is good. At first blush, rents seem higher than other places, but several utilities and amenities are included.
For my needs, the heating and air-conditioning are sufficient most of the time. During the hottest days of the year, I supplement the A/C with a few fans. Temperatures are a very personal preference; your mileage may vary.
The staff is responsive and courteous.
The tenants are friendly.
There's a convenient online form for submitting non-urgent work requests any time of the day or night.
THE BAD: ------------------------------------------------------------ The degree to which I can hear my neighbors is surprising. To be honest, it's not bad, especially if I'm just watching TV or something like that. But when I need to concentrate it can be irritating.
THE UGLY: ------------------------------------------------------------ The trash chute can get nasty, particularly in the summer. I'm not sure that there is anything practical to do to resolve this--it is trash after all.
OTHER ISSUES FOR CONSIDERATION: ------------------------------------------------------------ Facilities: The laundry room is nice, but can get crowded during high-demand hours. The "club room" is nice, though I wish we had better access to the plasma TV so we could watch DVDs. I have not used the exercise room, toddler room, or picnic area, so I cannot comment on those amenities, but it's nice to know they're there if I want to use them.
Transportation: The building is right on the 75 bus line. For me, it doesn't get more convenient than that. It is also very close to the 72 bus line. It is walking distance from the 71 and 73 bus lines, though I wouldn't go that far in the heat of summer or cold of winter. I understand that the bus system can be initially confusing for those who only have experience with the train, but it is fine for my needs. Before you move in, lookup with bus schedules online. If you dislike the hours or frequency, you should consider an apartment closer to the centers of Cambridge or Boston.
Neighborhood: The building is close to Huron Village. I love eating at Ortanique.
Barbara: I have no idea why anybody bothers mentioning Barbara in their reviews. It is a mystery to me anyway. I've only spoken with her twice (maybe 3 times) during my tenure here, and she seems like a nice, normal person. Two short conversations hardly seem enough of a basis to form any kind of judgment. To her credit, she seems very dedicated; I've occasionally seen her attending to building-related issues beyond normal office hours.
