The Real Deal

Years at this apartment: 2009 - 2009
I know some people have a good time and some a bad. So I'm going to write an in depth review of everything since I have been here.
Including all my stars and why.
Parking 4. There is always plenty of parking. in the year I have lived here, my jeep was broken into once. I don't keep anything in it and nothing was stolen, but someone rifled through my glove compartment and left everything strewn on the floor.
Noise 1. there is a lot of noise. when I first moved in the people below me played base so loud it shook the place. I banged on their door a few times and they would never answer. They moved out or got evicted shortly after. Then a new family moved in next door and played reggae really loud all the time. Interestingly I could never hear it from my apartment, but they kept all their windows and doors open, so you could hear it in the parking lot and in the halls. They moved out or got evicted and then we had silence for a while which was great. then the people above us moved in who have concrete feet. BANG BANG BANG all damn day. We had to put those little felt things on the ceiling light to lessen the noise from the banging all the time. I called the front desk and told them I thought they were either doing construction like building a boat or they were practicing to be pro wrestlers...it was and still is ridiculous. I have talked to them and they seem to just not care about anyone at all.
Grounds 5. They really do take care of the place, I always see landscaping and lawn care going on. They have been great on snow removal as well.
Safety 3. Besides some shady people hanging out in their cars in the parking lot, I have felt pretty safe. Granted I have a few guns in the house, but I've never felt I was unsafe in the parking lot or in my apartment. (Though the police do show up from time to time for domestic disputes....even knocked on my door once)
Construction 3. Nothing special here. Counters are vinyl covered in paint, stain pretty easy, rug was new when we moved in. dishwasher broke and was replaced and works fine.
Maintenance 4. We have had a few issues, broken flapper valve on toilet, dishwasher was making noise etc....very prompt and well done repairs.
Staff 3. Kevin seems nice but always seems standoffish. Tiffany has always been helpful with anything we needed. Not much follow up though, but when you go to them, they seem to listen.
Overall 3. The big problem is not the grounds or the staff or the place...it's the people. We've met a few families that care where they live and are nice, but most of them think they live here all by themselves and could care less about anyone else. I met a black guy down at the dumpster while putting out trash (He was from the condos next door, not the apartments and we talked about how so many people here just don't care...they leave their trash lying next to the dumpster even when it's not full and things. And he was right. The kids after school don't get out of the road when you are driving you car, if you say something or beep, they give you this look like wtf is wrong with you' or make faces. I've seen 2 black childrens ----- since I've been here. their mom's let them hang out the screen door naked. Once I was just taking a walk with my fiance. we don't go for walks anymore.
I hate living in complexes, it was the fiances idea to save some money for a few years before we buy a house. And while the grounds and place and staff itself are fine....the amount of section 8 and low income housing that lives here makes me wonder why my rent is so high. We'll be moving out next year. They also allow pets (for a small fee, like 10 bucks a month), most people we have met with pets seem ok, walk them pick up after them and what not.
