When I first moved into the Baker Factory it was a clean, affordable and unique place to live. However, it shows its age - and the owners & management are not keeping up with the age-related repairs.

The HVAC system is filthy and your soot-covered walls will show it. As will your heating & AC bills - which are high due to the inefficiency of the system. The apartments are expensive, there is construction, traffic and noise everywhere. The management "staff" does at little as possible and is not at all "consumer-friendly."

About halfway through my tenancy - a new management company took over and things went downhill rapidly. Rent significantly increased each and EVERY year. New tenants were not well-screened. The dirt and grime from the traffic and multiple construction projects encroahed on every aspect of quality of life and living in what used to be a lovely place.

The maintenance staff of one - tries to keep up -- however - the management does a little as possible to work with tenants on any issue of concern.

There is a fair amount of crime, with two attempted robberies (one armed) inside the buildings in the past year - which were never communicated to the tenants - they were reported in the local newspaper -- where residents learned of it.

Many long-time residents (10 - 14 years) have, or are in the process of leaving. I am one - I lived there since it opened in the late 80's and recently left for the reasons stated.

You can find a much nicer place to live for the amount of money they want from you - especially for what you DON'T get.
