Poor Management & Subpar Living Standards
From: -Anonymous-Date posted: 7/7/2008
Years at this apartment: 1995 - 2008
I've lived in the Baker's for over 10 years and never experienced any rodent problems until the last year. However, instead of acknowledging that a rodent problems exists, whenever I called to complain, they made it appear as though I was the only one having a problem. Stating "we havent' had any other complaints", no one else has complained, but yet they have done a large scale extermination that obviously has not worked based on the other posts here of people that have had a rodent problem as well.
As the other posts stated, all of the apartments are in dire need of updated appliances and cabinetry. I do not want to use a dishwasher that has been in place since the building was built nearly 25 years ago, so I've bought my own refridgerator years ago and requested a new diswasher. There are only 2 maintenance employees to more than 100 apartments. The property manager is never on site for more than one day a week. The Baker's was a nice place to live in at time, however, its value has depreciated and this is the reason, they are not as stringent with the selection of new tenants. I was totally disgusted one evening using the stairs, as I came upon dog feces in the hallway. Their are no Dog allowed in the building, however, someone apparently had a dog. The noise level and hearing other people in their apts, all depends on location, for the most part, in the apt I lived in, I never heard any other tenants or had any issue with noise or music.
They need to fix the rodent problem, remodel all of the apartment with new appliances and cabinetry, my cabinets are disgusting, I don't use them, I bought a stand alone cabinet from Ikea. I agree with all the negative posts, they do not care about the tenants or the physical state of the complex, as long as you pay your rent and don't complain they are fine. I was among many of the tenants who tried to file a complaint about their heating bill practices, they can not explain how they derive at the figures which are excessive, there is no rating and its actually illegal, we are suppose to have one bill from NSTAR, what they are doing and how they calcuate the bill is illegal.
With regard to the outside noise, it is the city and also located on the cornstone of one of the busiest intersections Dot AVe and Adams Street, so you will hear ambulances, Carney Hospital is right down the street and the Assistand Living HOme is behind the building and they frequently have ambulances there. All in all, I'm sure this place is certainly better than the last place for most tenatns, but for the ones that have lived her for a number of years, its has lost its charm. I'm seeking to move out to get away from the rats, bad management, old appliances, and sub-standard living.
