move out if you can!

Good news: nice view of the harbor if your apartment is high enough and face the water.
Bad news:
1) HP was converted from government housing project and is still partially occupied by low or no-income families. Nothing wrong with that except that people and kids gather outside all day and late into nights, making this place very noisy and unsafe. Fire alarms went off frequently. Drug dealings and thefts are not uncommon. Several units were broken into in my building and my friend?s new car was stolen parking in the apartment.
2) Old tenants are treated unfairly here. If you live here longer than one year, your rent will remain high even if the rent is reduced for new comers. At this time, you will find that the leasing manager is very unprofessional and unreasonable.
3) I moved out before my lease ended and was told by the leasing manager that there would be no problem. But later I was shocked to find out that I had been charged for the remaining of the lease until new tenant could be found. My security deposited was forfeited. Had the leasing manager told me the truth about his ?normal practice?, I would have found a sublet myself before the move. Thanks to this website, I now know that similar things happened to other former tenants, too.
