A nice complex in a bad neighborhood

I moved to Harbor Point in 9/2001 and about to move out (9/2005). During the four years of stay, I went from hating this place to trying to accept this place. At first I can not get any broadband service, until 2003 there was verizon avenue DSL (which is SLOW and very unstable). I have heard comcast is going to offer cable modem, but not sure when that will be happening.
I live on the south side of the entire apartment complex, so I don't get much noise as those living on the north side. Parking is very hard to find after 7pm, and it is near impossible after 9:30pm. I heard vehicles are often get stolen and the lot is not well lit, so after 2 months of moving into this place, I decided to get a garage parking space for $75/month.
Redline U-Mass/JFK station is about 15min walk from my unit, during night time, I suggest get a ride from friend to the T-stop or fork out $0.85 for the bus fare because the last section of Mt. Vernon is not well lit.
My first 2 years at HP was nightmares (fire alarm went off once every 6 to 8weeks, and it is always early morning (3am or 4am). AC doesn't work well (By the way, AC is only available from 6/15 - 9/15), regardless of how much/little electricity I use per month, my bill average $95 per month and no matter which cellular carriers (ATT, Verizon, Cingular, or T-mobile) I use, I can not get good signal in my unit. Then I talked to few of my friends that live close to north side of the complex and realized I was LUCKY, because I don't get loud music at 2am, loud muffler from all those wannabe racers, trash in the lobby, smelly elevators and broken door to the building entrance.

All of you people who have posted complaints should have read! Preferably the book "Harbor Point:A Decent Place to Live". Then maybe you wouldnt have experienced "SECTION 8 PEOPLE SHOCK".It's that new disease, only curable by getting over yourselves!!! How would any of you know who's on section 8 to begin with?! It seems you were too ignornant to even converse with these folks, so I KNOW U DIDNT ASK THEM If they paid market rate or not! Every complaint has been very florid in speeach, but none of you are saying anything. Your exageratng alot,in regards to the garage, and things not being well lit. GARBAGE. Theres new light posts WITH cameras for you scared sheltered peoples added protection. Security is a joke, so I dont see how any of you could feel harassed. They never bother anyone! Not even people in plain site, overtly being obnoxious. Security causually, harmlessly rolls by. In addition to the sucurity- in response to what a gentlmen said about boston police- Umm yeah, buddy ALL the security gaurds you see with red stripes ARE boston police authority! Stop complaining and pick up a book, guy, seriously. Now your all upset that you paid full price, when all of you IDIOTs should have simply done your own homework. People of sound mind do NOT decide on moving somewhere without experiencing the environment, on more than one occasion if you have half a brain. For the record, I am a 20 year old fulltime working individual.I have resided in Harbor Point since 1992, and have never been 'harassed' or bothered by "section 8 poeple." Good luck to you dummies in your future real estate choices. SINCERLY, A Harbor Point Veteran. |
