I can't find one bad thing to say about the Peninsula. I've lived here since late 2007 and have not had one problem. My apartment is beautiful, the location is very convenient, and my family and I feel safe living here. I can't say enough about the management team here. This morning, two of the members of the management staff were digging through the trash compactor with me helping to find something I accidentally threw out. They got dirty as they picked through bag after bag of dirty, smelly trash, and the manager wouldn't let me give up even when I was about to quit. We found the item and when I wanted to give her something to thank her for her efforts, she refused. That is what I call EXCEPTIONAL service. I highly recommend the Peninsula as a great place to live.

Totally fake review. Written by the management staff. The poster's name makes it obvious.

I don't think it's a fake review. It was just written in the glow of a positive experience. A lot of people come here to write their reviews after they've had a bad experience, and it colors their description of the place. This person had a positive experience, so he spins things more positively. The Peninsula is somewhere in between this glowing review and the hellish reviews elsewhere. The front-office staff has improved markedly; it used to be these young female students who wanted to work as little as possible. If they could find an excuse not to help you, they would. But now the receptionist (Soma) is very nice, and the guy (Ryan) is great. I've never thought highly of the manager (Jenn), and I'm still not sure what to think of the asst manager (Vincent or something like that). But in any case, Soma and Ryan are much better than the people who previously worked the front office. The construction noise is a problem depending on where you are in the building. At this point, from my apartment on the 7th floor (overlooking the construction), it's not bad. The number of students remains a problem. I had a problem being harassed by some students, but security responded to it and solved the problem. The Peninsula is overpriced, the management is not great, and sometimes it takes a ridiculously long time to fix or replace things. They have been amazingly negligent when it comes to billing and etc., but I think now that Jenn's done with her pregnancies things have gotten better. There are still too many students, and the students treat the place too much like a dormitory, leaving trash around. I also hate all the restaurant flyers. But the units themselves are nice; there are some nice families that live in the building, and the location is convenient. If you qualify, you should look into the Boston Redevelopment Authority's "Moderate Income Housing Program," which makes the building more affordable.

Fake review. Clearly.

Alright, so there are many mixed reviews here. You have your over the top cheerleaders for the complex ( which really sounds like management incognito) and then you have people who are way bent out of shape about this place. Then you have someone like me... I am honestly unhappy about the place and I feel it is my duty to inform and educated others about what living here is really like. Good points: 1. The apartments are fairly new 2. Some apartments have really nice views 3. Next door to Umass Boston so it GREAT if you are an undergrad student! Bad points: 1. Its actually quite the distance from the T and from downtown Boston. Despite what anyone says! Try commuting in the winter when there is snow in ground and it is below zero and 7pm. You can take a bus, but they are few and far between and not at all practical if you have a job in Boston. 2. It is one big dorm. Despite what anyone says. Umass Boston does not have "dorms" for their students and the Peninsula and Harbor point are the next best thing. Its NOT a place for young professionals, new families, or new couples. Why? There are too many undergrads cussing left and right, smoking pot, trashing the hallways, having parties, etc. Staff does not know what to do (what can they do?) and are almost acting like Resident Advisors to the kids? I'm 27 and had a few people over drinking wine and they questioned me? Are you serious? 3. Its really expensive and truly not the best value. Our economy sucks and there is no point for anyone to be paying more that 2k for an apartment w/o utilities that is located in Dorchester (despite what they say) and that is 15 minutes away from the T. If you want to live in Dorchester, great, there are apartments just a few more blocks away that are about $700 cheaper. Might as well save your money right? Especially if you are going to have a long commute either way? 4. Random charges! They are following Bank of America's lead and dinging you on random charges that you can't dispute. Lock out fee when security guard take over 45 minutes to come? (By the way, you can just credit card the door open... On all doors actually.. Hmm isn't that a safety issue? ) I've also walked in on staff watching re-runs of the surveillance tapes to charge people. I"M NOT JOKING. 5. Lastly, BEWARE OF YOUR SECURITY DEPOSIT! I have know several people to have taken the Peninsula to court over security deposits. It seems that this apartment complex will find any way to keep your 1500 deposit even if your apartment is spotless! They say that they clean your apartment after you leave, but BEWARE!! Any smells from cooking, shoe scuffs, and normal wear and tear is an opportunity for them to steal your money. From their perspective, it is actually a good scheme. You are required to put down a deposit and it is easier for them to take and make accusations and have you go trough the arduous task of fighting for it back, then just to refund it after your check out. So there you have it. A solid review just outlining the gist of this place. BTW, staff are okay. Jennifer is a nice person outside of the Peninsula, however there are times when she can be a bit unprofessional and very conniving.
