No Consideration for Loyalty

Years at this apartment: 2008 - 2008
The good: my building is quiet- most people in it are over 70. Not all are like that though. There's nice landscaping, and it doesn't feel like it's in Fall River. There are excellent at snow removal- they'll even brush your car off for you.
The bad (this is in regards to studio apartments only, I don't know about the others): It's WAY over priced. I have a small studio, my rent is $800. When I called for information was told that the rent on a one bedroom was $499, all units had dishwashers, there was a place where you could wash your car, and other little things.
When I got there, I was told that a one bedroom was $1099. I had specifically asked if the price I was quoted on the phone was for a one bedroom and not a studio, and was told yes. The studios have no dishwasher. In fact, the kitchen is about the size of most closets. The walk in closet is literally bigger then the kitchen. I have no usable counter space- all of it is behind the refrigerator and not being six feet tall I can't reach it. I have to do all of my food preparation on the stove top, which has lead to more then one melted cutting board. Something beeps incessantly in the trash room which is right behind my apartment. The worst though is the sound the heat makes. It's an incredibly loud creaking/clicking noise. It literally sounds like the roof is going to collapse. I moved in May, so this wasn't apparent until I had been here for about six months.
I have no windows. All I have is a sliding door, which does let in light, but because it's a DOOR I can't sleep with it open- especially since I'm on the first floor (all of the studios are, they're all built the same) I've had people literally try to walk into my apartment because the slider was open.
The real kicker is that I pay $800 a month. The rent for new residents is $709 for the exact same apartment. No wonder my building is half empty. Move in for a year, then move out for a couple months and you'll pay about $100 less. Makes a lot of sense doesn't it' Yes, this upsets me because 1. The rent is too high for Fall River anyway, and 2. there's no reason that existing tenants should be charged MORE then new tenants.
So why do I live here' I was living with friends, and had to leave on very short notice (less then a month) because I was too much of a neat freak for them. I didn't have time to shop around or I would have gone for somewhere much more reasonable, and where I would get what I was actually told I was going to get. They did a very big bait and switch on me. I just discovered that Royal Crest also charged me a pet deposit which is illegal in Massachusetts.
