Counting the days until I can MOVE OUT!

When I first visited I was on a serious time crunch for a long-distance move. I really liked the person that showed me the apartment and happily made plans to move...Since I signed the lease, I have been lied to several times regarding my unit. To begin with, I was shown a model apartment which is WAY more updated than the unit I was rented. (To their credit, it did get re-carpeted and painted).

Because I needed to move mid-month, I was choosing a place based on how they would accommodate my needs. The person I spoke with promised to comp the days in October and quoted me a specific price with a 2 month discount (one month free and one month prorated discount). After moving across the country, I was told that Oh wait, there was no approval for the 7 day discount. TEN MONTHS after paying the amount I was told on my visit, I was informed that I have been $40 short - Which although, I take responsibility for not double checking her math against my lease, but had I been given the correct amount, I would have NEVER moved here because Bayberry Hill Estates was offering a much better price.

Like other tenants, my shower and toilet were also replaced and like them, they did a hack job, left trash in my apartment and actually neglected to hook up water, which I discovered on a Saturday evening when I came home from work - Therefore, no water for the weekend. Then, after I stopped in the office, the maintenance left a note stating their work which pretty much blamed me for not knowing how to fill the tank and commode with water...Do I look like a freaking plumber''' They also screwed up twice with the parking space assignment (another condition of moving) - renting out the same spot to multiple people. All my faucets are ridiculously leaky, and the closet doors fell off about 2 months after I moved in. Some of my kitchen cabinets are ready to fall off too.

The common areas are dumpy and are in badly need of new carpet or at least a shampoo - when I moved, the elevator had failed inspection (since corrected). My car bumper is badly scratched from the terrible set-up of the covered parking. They have eliminated after-hours lock out assistance which is another reason I moved into the building and I was never even told where the pool was when I moved in (not a big deal but all things considered). My apartment is not even keyed into the system to buzz people in. The water is constantly getting shut off - luckily, I am usually at work, but I feel for the people that have kids or stay at home during the day --how can you shut off water for 8 hours a day in the middle of the day multiple times a month for several months'' I have yet to see the improvement that is supposed to come from their work - In fact, this week, my bathroom faucet water comes out as a glorified drip when turned on all the way. They enter your apartment with no notice and complete repairs weeks after you see a stupid notice for it.

I get about 3 notes under my door a week for maintenance, newsletters, notices, etc which drive me insane---I really wish they would focus on improving the property and customer service than sticking stupid notes under my door.

I don't feel unsafe and have not witnessed any breaking in or cars. As for the noise, water and construction can be heard in surrounding units and outside, but I don't think it's that bad. On the plus side, my unit has a dishwasher and the fitness room is decent.

All in all - this place is so hideously overpriced -even with the 2 month special. If you decide to rent - go over everything with a fine-tooth comb. Don't be satisfied seeing the model apartment and check on any repairs and updates being done to your unit. The unit itself is spacious and clean and update. Closet space is mediocre. South view is lovely. BUT as I said my contact with the building management and deteriorating amenities have left me counting the days until I can move...They have really left a bad taste in my mouth...Can you tell'''

Is a two month rent free discount what they are offering new tenants these days? They continue to price gouge the long term tenants me being one of them. They just keep raising the rent every year and expect us to "pay in advance " for future improvements. If I had the funds to move this year I would but I will have to wait until next year unfortunately.
