the pros and cons

Pros
-Great view if you get into the right unit
-Plentiful running routes nearby
-Close to major roads, shopping
-Maintenance calls taken care of quickly
-Management was nice
-Convenient although sometimes broken laundry machines on each floor
Cons
-Water. It pours through the ceiling down on the unit below. It happened to me five times for four different reasons.
-Fire alarms. You learn to wait 10-15 minutes before they are turned off.
-Fires. The first one wasn't so bad. The second one really got my attention.
-Mice. I trapped about eight of them and got tired of it. Management never bothered to plug the hole they were coming from.
-Heat. My place was an icebox, especially when the north wind blew. Heaters were so awful I chose to bundle up and go without it.
-Noise. It's actually good and bad. I kind of liked the activity. There seemed to always be action out there.
-Neighbors. It's true that you can hear conversations, sex, fights and so forth even through the cool-looking brick walls.
-Parking. Although enough spaces, the spots are too tight. Expect dings and scratches.
-Old everything. My place was not renovated.
-Vandalism. One morning I saw multiple mailboxes ripped open.
You can still make it a decent place to live if you have a high tolerance threshold, but be aware of the potential and certain problems.
