I lived here for about two years when it was edgewater because I couldn't afford anything better ( and I still paid almost 1000/mo for a studio!). It was dirty, I felt unsafe and there were many unsavory characters. The several buildings get progressively worse as the move west down rt 9 and become gvt subsidized. One day I came home to learn that someone who had attacked someone in framingham was a resident and other residents were warning females. There is a constant reek of curry and other ethnic cooking that is nauseating, and many many fire alarms and instances of emergency vehicles showing up. I am not surprised about the unfortunate fire at the sister property jefferson village because one morning I woke up and smelled horrible pungent smoke, I checked out the hallway and it seemed to be coming from a utility room. I called the answering service, maintenance and management (as each became available) and they all told me "just open your windows and the smoke will clear". I should have been smart enough to call the fire department. Once my dishwasher flooded and the indian guy below came up screaming at me because his wife couldn't speak english and she couldn't call management all day - as if I knew or could fix it myself. Also, the place has a reputation for numerous (I mean up to 10 in a 1-2 bedroom) illegals living in one apartment. Also sex offenders. The management blatantly avoids building codes. There are mice (my cat found several), bugs, rats and overall filth. Each apartment has a balcony but they are made of cracking concrete, crooked and have unsafe rusty railings. The bathrooms are old and gritty, the kitchens haven't been updated since the 70's, and sliding glass doors and screens won't stay locked. The ONLY positive my my water-view. STAY AWAY if you want to keep your health, safety, and clean living standards.

"constant reek of curry and other ethnic cooking"?? what does the smell emanating from your apartment smell like? it's probably ethnic and nauseating to others. and if your dishwasher was leaking and flooding someone else's apartment, what does it matter is she can't speak english? you owe her an apology. end of story. sex offenders? what are you talking about? frankly, part of the problem here is people like you, beyond you being racist. you insist on bringing animals into a closed community living situation. all animals should be asked to leave, and their owners too.

well now that they allow animals you cant ask them to leave, and all the different smells of cooking do reek because there is not proper ventilation in any of the apartments. The apartment above me had a dishwasher leak and flood my kitchen and I didnt run upstairs and yell at the neighbors, nor did I expect an apology for something that wasnt there fault. Several people have been arrested in this complex since I have lived here, read the newspaper, and by the way, if you tell someone you live here they'll laugh and ask if your neighbors sell drugs because thats what this place is known for.

Animals are allowed, my cat was grandfathered in, also, as the second person said, there is no ventilation, numerous people have been arrested, including a major news story suspect from an attack at a wal-mart a few years ago. And I don't need to leave because I did a couple years ago, thank goodness. Also, they supply you with 25 year-old appliances so it isn't my fault that the dishwasher leaked. As for the woman who didn't speak english, my problem is that the husband came and yelled at me twice, even after maintenance came and vacuumed up the water. Perhaps living in the US it would help to learn english so she could have communicated the issue before it became such a big "problem". Call me racist which isn't even the correct term for me supporting people learning english in the US, but I am not. In fact, I dated an Indian man who had recently come to the US for about a year, and he was the one who couldn't be seen with a white girl in public. And he completely understood my adversion to curry. When I visit overseas I make an effort to learn key terms in that language. It is ignorant not to at least learn some of the language of the country you live in. Sure, speak your native language at home and preserve your culture, but be able to comminicate, as manners and for safety. What if their apartment was on fire? Would the whole building have burned down because her husband was at work. I don't know why I am even bothering to argue with you because you are completely ignorant. As for the curry and other smells, it is very offensive to others, I would not cook in such a closed environment with noxious fumes. It actually makes some people physically ill. In fact, our new community by-laws state that cooking with strong/offensive odors to others is forbidden. You really need to educate yourself on the people you are living with because it seems you are very naive and although you are extremely disrespectful, I hope everyone is safe. Sex offender registries and most arrest/court records are public. If you have time to respond to me with such a bitter passion, maybe you would be better off spending some time on the internet educating yourself so you are safe. Oh, and there were several break-ins, drug arrests, and car break-ins during my tenure at Edgewater. I am an intelligent person and would not say things that were not factually based. And for the second post, thank you for being a smart person and being rational and aware of your surroundings. I hope you remain safe and can figure out some ventilation to eliminate the smells. Best of luck to you.

I agree the smell of curry makes me ill to my stomach and when I come home its ALL I can smell and I can't help but gag. Im not racist but control what you cook, and stop closing al the doors so the smell lingers. Its sickening. Im sure what others cook isn't good to smell for others. But it doesn't REEK like that does. It makes my stomach turn to know that when I get off of the pee reeking elevator that I have to deal with that as well. Manner of respect to the other people you live with.
