Being Totally Honest

I have lived here for a few months now. The apartment that I live in is nice. If you don't really pay attention. Keep in mind I am not being evicted, I have never been in trouble here, and I am leaving of my own free will. My apartment is a few hundred dollars over a thousand a month. It is what they call a ' studio ' but it is extremely small. No lie there is no living room, or dining room. And when you wake up in the morning and turn to your left you immediately are in your kitchen.
The appliances are new which is nice, but having new appliances only masks the real problems:
In my Apartment:
The ceiling paint is chipping
There is a hole behind the toilet
Surrounding my Sliding door AND Window, there is heavy mold and mildew, which I have scrubbed but will not go away
I have complained to the office SEVERAL times about the mold, they haven't done anything, Also the light bulbs in the bathroom have popped, one of them had the top of the bulb just pop right out simply because it got some water from the steam, the top popped out and I stood there as it caught on fire! I called the Office Immediately and all she said was ' Well... we don't replace light bulbs ' ( Uh... what' who doesn't replace light bulbs!! ) Not only are there minor issues with the apartment itself. In all honesty its a nice apartment. But for the money we pay it is not worth it!
Down the hallway the neighbors do not care for anyone else's well being. There are spilled items all down the hallway. There was broken glass from one of the lights and regardless how many times we told the office it took them over two weeks to clean it up, and they did a horrible job. I even saw a little boy with no shoes on running down the hallway and I had to tell his father to be careful of broken glass. There is a light fixture at the end of the hallway that has been leaking some sort of liquid, its staining the walls and is a huge fire hazard.
The elevators NEVER work properly. The one on the left only half opens and is slow. And at this VERY moment neither of them are working. One is stuck going up towards the third floor and the other is stuck going up towards the sixth with both lights on and the fire / emergency light on. But hey.. the people in the office don't get into work until nine so ... take the stairs.
If your walking down the stairs in the winter, yeah its freezing because there's no heat, the heaters that are in the stairwell are all kicked in, knobs broken off and they do not work, If you look up while your walking up the stairs you'll notice wads of duct tape sticking out of the holes in the wall, apparently to keep out the cold air, news flash, that doesn't work. And I don't know of any licensed maintenance personnel that would stick duct tape in a HOLE.
The parking issue isn't that bad for me because I did not pay for a spot, out there it is first come first serve and I understand that. But when half of the people take up more than one parking spot it is inconvenient and annoying. People park in the handicapped spots as well with no sticker or identification of being handicapped. The parking lot itself is falling apart. If your parking near the Fitness Center the bumper which you pull up to is cracked and completely separated from the concrete, if your cleaning off your windshield in the winter, use careful footing. They do shovel the parking lot, which is an upside.
The Fitness Center. When you walk in is all ' ooh ahh ' I have never personally had an issue with the machines, and I do see a cleaning woman around whenever I go in. But people do not clean off the machines after themselves which is inconsiderate and disgusting. When you work out you sweat, and there are sanitation bottles and paper towels provided. Maybe we need to make a chart so people can understand. Downstairs there is adequate space for mats and stretching, but no one picks up the weights on the floor and they go rolling around. When you move something put it back. Honestly people here are selfish, and leaving weights around is dangerous. Also it is a safety issue because there are not just people who live here who are working out, but total strangers that they let in. Sometimes the door to outside doesnt close properly and people take advantage of that.
Laundry: The laundry room is so mis-cared for it bothers me. There is one huge long crack that is about a half of an inch wide that runs through the entire left hand side of the floor, you need to buy a card which is all the way down on the first floor and will ONLY take 5 dollar bills. You put your money in, and that card COSTS the full 5 so don't lose it. If the machine eats your money too bad. " we don't own that machine " The washing machines over sud your clothes and then do not rince, so prepare to wait a LONG time for your laundry to come out. Either that or you'll just have to open up the door and let it all spill onto the floor in order to collect your clothes. Now your clothes are sopping wet. And to get them dry your either going to have to tote the extremely heavy sopping wet clothes back to your apartment and properly wash them in the bathtub. Or spend about 8 bucks a load drying them in the dryers. Which aren't that great. Regardless be prepared to waste a lot of money. If you look up you will notice pipes leaking redish orange like rust, thats been dribbling down the side of the pipes into the floor, where there is a huge hole. No wonder this place is freezing all of the time. There are holes everywhere.
I am not the only one that complains about this issue. And I have brought it up with the office and was told ' well we don't own the machines well call and have them fixed ' right. Fix them like you did the broken glass and the elevators. Forget it. The reason why I am leaving is because I found a place MUCH MUCH bigger and a hundred dollars less a month. Not because of all of these small problems which aren't that big of a deal right now, considering i've only been here a few months. But over time I think I would go insane. If your going to live here do me a favor. Do a REALLY really close inspection. There are problems everywhere, and if your ok with the problems then live here, if your not, do not waste your time.
Doors are broken, coffee is spilt on the wall. The laundry room isn't properly insulated, there is literally water LEAKING from one of the LIGHT fixtures.... tell me that isnt a fire hazard waiting to happen. And if you don't believe me just wait. I will post pictures of all of this soon. So you can get a good idea of what to expect here at ol' Jefferson Hills.
Please understand. I am not just on here because I'm leaving. I am here for other peoples well being. It may seem like I'm complaining but you should be happy, and safe, and healthy in your home. It is what you come back to everyday and is supposed to give you peace, not grief. I just want this information to be helpful and used. Do what you want with the info. And look CLOSELY at the pictures. Thank you x-2PE3sjUIIeetAHoKOk

I had mold in my infant sons room when i resided in building C. I had to call corporate and threaten a law suit before they cleaned up. Now we're trapped in a lease over at jefferson terrace because they waited so long to do anything then wanted to up our rent for another year.

I lived in building C as well. Along with MANY other issues, I had a mold and mildew problem as well! I told the office and they told me to "clean it up then if it is bothering you". Can you believe it!! I pitched a fit and they didn't seems to care. For my safety (I have a mold allergy) and my families I scrubbed it with baking soda paste and vinegar and it didn't come back. If they finally do clean it, wipe it down with some vinegar it keeps the mold away.

Would anyone on here be willing to give me an idea of how horrible the electric is? I am wary of the complex anyway because of these reviews, but I'd at least like to know if I can afford it anyway! The management was weird about my utilities questions and I called NStar about one unit and they said the average bill was over $400/mth, which seems nearly impossible to me. I'd love to have something to compare that to!

I have been in Jefferson for two years. The rates for studio have always been under 900, personally I went for the one bedroom because I don't want my bedroom in my kitchen. There is no way you would pay over 1000 for a studio here, mostly only 2 bedrooms are over 1200.
Maintenance has always come within 7 days to repair anything, including a light bulb. I shower often so sometimes the bathroom ceiling gets mold, I spray with tilex every 2 months and it's not a problem... no scrubbing needed.
The laundry room definitely does need some renovation, but as far as in residence maintenance I have had many good experiences.

I was paying 1280 for a one bedroom. This place is horrible. The rates change DAILY. The office personnel are SALES only. I wish I could picket outside of the building to tell people to stay away. This is one big RIP OFF.
In this economic time... Jefferson Hills will only dig you deeper into debt.

Do your research before settling on a price! I only pay 865 for a one bedroom...and 30/mo for electricity but I'm super careful about saving electricity...

I understand that mold and mildew happen in the bathroom but it shouldn't happen in your BEDROOM and the 1,200 that we paid was JUST for rent! So I don't know where your paying inder a grand bit that was not the case for me. Maintenance NEVER came in less than 7 days I lived it. The lbroken light in the hallway took almost a month and DAILY complaining to clean up. Jefferson Hills is a trash heap.
