My husband and I lived in this apartment for two years, and if we hadn't bought a house would have stayed there indefinitely. Obviously, we liked it there but I'll try to be fair and outline the negatives and positives. The negatives are fewer and I ll start there:

NEGATIVES.

1. It is basic apartments so don t expect a pool or special amenities. Some people might be used to extensive gyms. You won t get that at this apartment.

2. The apartments themselves have standard carpets, painted walls, and wood cabinets. It is well-maintained but not new.

3. Regarding the cost of electricity, it is pretty high as someone else pointed out. However, they have been installing new windows and sliding doors over the past couple of years so the average cost per month might be a bit lower than the review below says. If I had one complaint about the electricity it would be about the electric company, not the management. The frequency of power outages was higher than expected, but a lot of that has to do with the strain on the power grids in the area.

POSITIVES:

1. There is a resident manager who lives in the building itself so your problems are their problems.

2. It is run as part of a family business, and they are really nice people who seem to take pride in their buildings. When my husband and I bought a house, we had to give 2 months notice, but they were able to find someone to rent our apartment early and refunded our extra month's rent.

3. It is in a green area so I did see some spiders and ants in the summer (a few) that found their way in via the balcony, but I never saw any really yucky pest in the apartment house.

4. They have a great trash policy. You can throw your kitchen trash down a chute that goes into the dumpster, which is in a room off the garage. Having lived in other apartments that had trash rooms by the laundry (yuck) or made you take your kitchen garbage out on trash day, this was nice.

5. There are laundry machines on each floor. Some are nicer than others, but overall the washers in particular are great. They are the newer type that allows you to use tiny amounts of detergent, which makes up a bit for the expense of laundry.

6. The price is really fair for the area it is in, even now when rent prices are pretty low. The area is safe enough that I used to walk around the neighborhood for exercise.

7. There is an elevator for when you are lazy. ^_^ They even have some grocery carts for bringing your stuff up and down the elevator.

8. You can park in the garage if you want, for a fee of something like $50-$60 a month. If you are trying to keep costs down, there is still enough parking outside, but your car won't be locked up.

9. This place was really quiet. Our *house* is noisier than this apartment was, just from outside noise and cars going by.

Overall, this is a great place. It doesn t have tons of amenities, but a lot of things such as the laundry, the elevator, and the trash, are set up in ways that make your life a lot easier.
