Just Okay

We've been living here for 11 months and will not be renewing our lease because of it's distance from Boston (where I work).
Problems:
The other reviews about the water are true. It was mostly a problem during the summer. It was often dark brown and had to be run for quite some time before it cleared enough to be usable. I wouldn't drink it. Also, I learned the hard way not to wash my whites in the provided laundry as the water turned them slightly brown. During the cooler seasons, the brown water was erratic and not as bad as the warmer ones. The worst part was taking a shower and knowing the water was brown and smelling how musty it was.
Maintenance: When we had maintenance problems the response time was often very good. The garbage disposal can't handle even a few potato peels and the toilet handle mechanism broke. Also the screen often came off the track in such a way that we could not replace it ourselves. Also, when we first moved into the apartment the master bedroom window was replaced wrong and had to be turned around completely so it could even move. All calls made in the morning were responded to either immediately or by the afternoon. The maintenance men were nice and very efficient. The dumpster is not emptied nearly as often as it should be, but it's far enough away from the buildings that it doesn't pose a problem. It is annoying to take out the trash when it dumpster is full and it should be emptied more
Parking is just fine. There was always a spot to park, although after 6 or 7 they weren't nearly as close as I would have liked. The lower parking lot is slightly dangerous for pulling in and out of because of a large shrubbery that has no aesthetic or functional purpose. It apparently just makes it harder to see.
Noise: After being in a college dorm for 4 years, I can accurately say it's just like living in a dorm. We have a corner apartment so we only have one neighbor and we can't hear a thing, but we can hear absolutely everything in the hallway and in the apartment across the hall (the baby cries ALL the time).
Safety: I never felt unsafe while living here.
Heat and Hot Water: Hot water, yes. Heat, TOO MUCH. Although you can adjust your heat it's often too hot because other tennants take advantage of the heat and hot water being included. We can have the heat off completely and our indoor thermometor will read between 75 and 80 degrees. And it feels that hot, too. Also, the air conditioner in the living room doesn't filter the air through to the other rooms. The master bedroom was unbearable in the summer. We were told that most residents don't use the air conditioners because the breeze off the water is cooling enough, but it's certainly not true.
Staff: The leasing staff was friendly. They answered questions right over the phone when I called and the leasing agent remembered who I was and all of our names. I didn't have any real problems though, so I'm not sure how they respond in a crisis.
We have a two bedroom and for the space we have and number of people in the apartment (3 plus 2 cats), the bathroom is TINY. Two of us are over 6 feet and the bathroom is certainly not suitable for them. I'm only 5 feet and it's slightly too small for me to feel comfortable. Our joke is that the bathroom is so small that the light switch doesn't even fit inside (it's outside the door in the hallway).
