Lincoln Woods

Lincoln Woods with such tenants as Myra and her "friends" is a shame on humanity. These are psychologically and mentally demadged people who do not belong to public housing.
They are making true hell from this housing.

My family and friends have lived in Lincoln Woods for over 25 years. Yes, there have been ups and downs. This is to be expected from a coop. I think that personal information such as this type of post should not be made on a website. We need good neighbors to keep the neighborhood safe and to help it to thrive within the greater community surrounding us. It is convenient to Amtrak, it is inside a beautiful community that offers immediate response for emergencies as well as a fantastic school system. It is convenient to the post office and banks. And it is surrounded by acres of off conservation land with trails for hiking, and cross country skiing. Bikes are not allowed at the trail head there but it is a good starter place for young families. There is a play ground, that needs mowing, with a new basketball court and a picnic bench. One of the major problems has been that past management has allowed the coop to become unbalanced. By this I mean that the ratio of income levels has too many moderate rate apartments to support the original concept of the coop - which is a three-tiered financial approach to building a neighborhood - low, moderate, and market rate. The moderate rate apartments are meant as stepping stones for those who need and want to make a better life for themselves and their children, or for singles just starting out. There have been many people that have done this. This has succeeded but it has failed as well. Because now there are not enough market rate units to support the coop. In the long run it is simple math to know that the ratio of moderate to market must be precise in order to support the payment of the capital and day to day expenses of running such a large housing complex. There are federal and state guidelines which must be followed. The coop was first conceived of in the mid 70's as a means of providing affordable housing to all who need it - disabled, and yes that includes mentally as well as physically disabled (there should be no difference, this is stygmatizing people). In short, Lincoln Woods - which is what it has been affectionately called by all who have lived there for years - has great potential and always has. Unfortunately, the property managers in Massachusetts have not had to play by any set rules. This is just wrong and should be changed. In Lincoln Woods, we are trying to make a change for the better.
