not great, not bad

The negative comments about Lincoln Woods are a bit "over the top". However the place is not a paradise. I moved to Massachusetts from out-of-state, and lived in Waltham. I decided not to renew my lease at Cronin's Landing and to move out to the "country". The town of Lincoln is a rural, green pastoral town.
Here are the facts as I see them, both positive and negative:
1) Positive:
The leasing process was quite easy, the apartment (a one bedroom) was a bit small, but was freshely painted before I moved in. The few problems I hade were quickly addressed by the friendly maintenance staff. Heat and hot water were included in the rent. There is plenty of parking. When it came time to move, there was no problem getting back my security deposit(not what they called it, but amounts to the same thing). Over all, I found the office and maintenance staff to be very accomodating and friendly.
2) Negative:
Lincoln Woods was billed as a "Co-Op", however, it not a co-op in the New York City sense. Lincoln Woods is an afordable housing development backed by a state agency and ultimately answers to the Massachusetts Housing Finance Agency (MHFA). This means that some of the residents are stereotypical public housing types, and there were a few arrests when I lived there. I did find the advisory board members self-serving and a few pretty over-bearing. Also, snow removal was only so-so.
Overall, Lincoln Woods is kind of a so-so cheap apartment complex in the middle of a little New England paradise. The town of Lincoln is absoulty a first class New England town. Now that I am back in Manhatten, I can honestly say I miss the Town. The apartment conplex, not-so-much.
