For 125 families Lincoln Woods is home, at least for now. As a 15 year resident, I've seen changes, good and bad, but this seems to be the best location for many of us.
It's true there is an air of public housing here and there have been arrests, drugs and a few other 'not so pleasant' incidents, but overall, this has some great advantages. With the price of heating fuel these days, we are lucky to have that included in our assessment charges. The quality of construction is what it is - economically built and aging, but adequate. The current maintenance staff is prompt and tries to fix most needs immediately. While snow removal could be better, residents' cars parked along the street, rather than in assigned spaces, only hampers the process.
Volunteer Boards, like all others, have made their share of mistakes over the years as have some previous property managers. The best part of this "Co-op" is that residents may be active in approaching the Board with suggestions for improvement, attend meetings and do their part in moving this community in the right direction.
Having read many of the previous reviews, one can tell that residents fail to see their own roles in a community such as this. Respect for rules, neighbors and their own community will go a long way in keeping this a very affordable and enjoyable place in a jewel like New England town.
