I read all the reviews for this building and knowing that it sounded like a crappy place, I decided to move in anyway because its close to school and downtown.. All I have to say is that I enjoy it a LOT. I think it has to do with the fact that I have perfectly silent neighbors. People have to realize it is an apartment building in the middle of a city after all. Yes there IS a security guard that walks around inside AND outside during the night. I don't see him every night but I know that he exists. Management seems OK to me, but I haven't had any problems for them to come fix.
No its false the walls are not "paper thin". They are just normal wall construction. no sound blocking insulation or anything fancy. But I am fortunate to have quiet neighbors, but a lot of people probably aren't as lucky. My ceiling however is a concrete slab, so not a single sound from above at all.
Parking is fine. Parking lot is full of bumps but at least they plow it out EVERY storm. I'm not sure if this is something new but they plowed out after every storm this year. I live in the basement but the size of the windows let in more than enough light.
Compared to all other apartments I've lived in in the past in Lowell, this is definitely my favorite. The lobby is pretty and I never smell anything bad unless I'm actually IN the trash room throwing away my trash. Free exercise room! Not MANY things in there but I never see more than a couple other people in there at a time.
I definitely recommend this place.

I have not visited any other loft apartments in Lowell other than Dutton st of course. I remember from when I was researching, Loft27 looked pretty promising. The location isn't too too great, but I recommend adding it to your list of places to check out. Good luck!
