the truth is there is good and bad at the massmills apartments. the buildings and apartments are nice; i'm especially fond of the high ceilings. catherine and the rest of the office staff have always been reasonable and nice to me (plus they're all really pretty - bonus! don't tell catherine, but i think she's really hot), and the maintenance staff have always taken care of any issues i've had promptly and professionally. i can't hear my neighbors in the other apartments (except for a brief period when some thoughtless idiot was playing drums beneath me!)and the 2 washers and dryers on each floor seem adequate. it also has to be acknowledged that the prices are relatively affordable for the greater boston area.
on the other hand, parking really is a nightmare. it seems like there is exactly one parking space per apartment, with none to spare. every time it snows you have to park blocks away or get towed. they are very aggressive about towing cars off the lot if they don't have residents' stickers; it's never happened to me, but i've seen a lot of cars get towed out of there, and these guys don't care about the cars they're towing, either - i've even seen them towing cars with locked brakes and smoking tires.
like other reviewers, i too have seen rodents (on four separate occasions) while i've lived here. to be honest, they don't really bother me that much, but i can understand why others might be upset, especially if they have children.
then there's the noise from outside: there are always some lowlifes hanging around outside hooting and hollering, at all hours of the day, and when there aren't, some idiot's car alarm is going off. to make matters worse, the apartments are very close to a hospital and also the police station, so there are constant sirens outside - if you live here, you'll be getting used to those. then, in summer, there's some sort of a music festival a few hundred feet up the road which will keep you awake on weekends - the local authorities have no regard for noise ordinances.
the very worst thing about these apartments, though, isn't anything to do with the apartments themselves; it's the city of lowell. it has to be said: lowell is a run-down s**thole of a town, filled with junkies, hookers, and every sort of human detritus. my car gets broken into about once a month, while sitting in the parking lot - i've learned not to leave anything valuable inside. on one occasion, my residents' sticker was stolen, peeled off the inside of my window - luckily, i didn't get towed, but i can easily imagine something like that happening. the traffic in town is abysmal, too; it takes me 15 minutes each morning to go one mile through 13 traffic lights just to get to the highway towards work.
it's a shame, really; if the apartments could be transplanted to a nicer town, they could be really nice, but in the scummy lowlife environment of lowell, they're horribly out of place and much less desirable.

I understand you were upset about the "hookers" and "junkie's"...but you will find this in every city...oh and if those individuals from nice neighborhoods weren't coming down to pay these prostitutes for services they might stop altogether... I do agree no one should break into your car....but keep in mind other people besides "junkie's" break into people's car and some "junkie's" do not steal. I agree something should be done. Not until the police get more actively invovled and make selling drugs impossible and when individuals looking for sexual gratification stop paying "Hookers" and find themselves a girlfriend or wife or even be faithful then maybe Lowell won't be such a s***hole.
