I am actually a tenent currently living in the apartment building and hadn't really had any problems with the management. I felt I should be honest about the apartment, so I gave it a glowing review. Some people's opinion's may differ. And yes, some people DO actually take time out of their days to compliment their landlord. (These are called, "nice" people.)
UNFORTUNATELY for me, (and probably fortunate for tenents who apparently hate living here) I have to say that living here is different now because the building has been bought by Barkan Management Corp., and Archstone is no longer managing it. So, things have naturally gone downhill, as this new management has no clue what they're doing and doesn't discipline tenents for anything.
Now, there are numerous fire alarms in the middle of the night, to the point where people won't even evacuate anymore. There aren't any explainations for the cause of them, either.
Then, there is the big trash problem. Trash gets so clogged in the trash chute, that tenents who are too lazy to go down and put it in the dumpster--like people on the 1st, 2nd, 3rd & even 4th floors, feel the need to leave their trash in the trash chute room. So, now the hallways always smell like garbage. And management still only has the garbage collected once every week.
Lastly, some dog owners have completely lost all sense of courtesy and don't pick up after their dogs. It is very obvious who these tenents are, as they are mostly owners of large dogs who leave horrendously large feces EVERYWHERE.(Yes, this includes the sidewalk.)
That said, I would say the living conditions are not as great as they used to be and if the management continues to provide inadequate service, it will only get worse.
