Dodgy ppl and plenty of bugs

The place is nice and only 45 mins from Boston by public transportation. It used to be even nicer before Equity took over and started accepting people without doing any background checks.
If you don't mind living in the same building with a guy in dire need of anger management help and 4 families crammed into a 2 bedroom infested with bed bugs and other creepy crawlies, this is the place for you. We've had this one family move in, and then more and more people started moving into that same apartment. Every time we wanted to complain about the noise or lack of hygiene, they would refuse to speak English and play dumb. Not to mention none of them seemed to work or do anything productive. Some of them did speak English BTW. Most of them were living there illegally and management did not care as long as the rent got paid.
People from other buildings have been complaining about this same problem when one person signs a lease and then brings in a bunch of immigrants.
For all those tenants who keep saying diversity is great, I completely agree with you, but you obviously have not had to deal with people who have come here with absolutely no intention of integrating into the American society. The people I had to deal with were living as if they were still in their country, door wide open, spilling their lives into the hallway, partying until the wee hours of the morning, and generally showing no respect for their neighbors. Basically breaking every rule on the lease agreement.
Anyway, the place is nice, if a lil' overpriced. Just make sure you visit the exact apartment you'll be moving in, preferably after 10pm. Take a good sniff, look for thrash bags in front of doors, check the state of the w/d, and look at the cars around the building. Check windows for aluminium foil or cardboard "curtains" -- a sure sign of a bed bug infestation coming from that apartment. I didn't want to be specific, but really, if you hear or see Portuguese, especially in a big group, ask to see another building. You'll be saving yourself a lot of grief and sleepless nights.
We were unlucky to live in a building with this kind of problem. I would not recommend moving in to anyone.
