Never got my security deposit back...

Granada Highlands was a nice place to live for a year. I didn't have a lot to complain about since I was in one of the newly renovated apartments, except for the pharoh ant problem we had (look up those ants, they're terrible).
However, since I moved out nearly 6 weeks ago I still have not received my security deposit. Granada Highlands owes me $1,955 and they're giving me the run-around. I've been down in person and on the phone a number of times and they're always "working on it" and they'll "call me back". I've given an unnamed woman my phone number several times now and have not heard back from her yet. This same woman keeps telling me that she's working on it and not to worry. I called again this morning and asked for the same woman (because yesterday I was told she was working today) and got someone who said she was off until Tuesday. Since this person wasn't there I spoke with someone else who told me, "I'm really sorry for the inconvenience and that you got caught in the middle of the business transaction, but there's nothing we can do. Call back on Tuesday." CAUGHT IN THE MIDDLE OF THE BUSINESS TRANSACTION!'!' When did I start making deals to sell the property' Nobody contacted me to let me know the place was being sold. They're saying that since Equity sold them the property on July 26th, and I moved out July 22nd that they're not responsible.
All I'm saying is that when you decide to move out (and I suggest you do so as soon as possible) you make sure you leave with your security deposit. If I don't get my $1,955 soon they'll be hearing from my lawyer.
Get out of Granada Highlands now; that place is run by the -----.

I'm having anxiety attacks now over what my rent increase will be now that a new management firm has assumed control. From what I've read and heard through the grapevine, these people soon plan to make very steep rent increases. They think that Equity didn't charge enough for this type of luxury accommodation. However, there is so much that isn't being done; for example, the Media Room has been out of repair for over 2 months and there are many issues that are not being addressed for the amt. of rent they're planning to charge when current leases expire.

Yeah I really had very few complaints when I was living there over the past year and I actually wanted to stay. My roommates both wanted to move closer to Boston so we moved out and I went to Medford. In hindsight it's probably the best decision I ever made. The people in the office there are terrible. They're friendly when you're there, but they're pretty much useless. I really believe I'm going to get my lawyer involved to get my security deposit back, which is absolutely ridiculous. I hope your lease is up soon and you can move out of there. I'm in a nice apartment in Medford now with a private landlord and am loving it. I'll never deal with a big company like Equity or any of them again. Good luck at Granada and I hope it all works out for the best for you!
