The apartments are VERY generous in space given that most new apartments to come on line over the past few years tend to have smaller rooms and perhaps only one bathroom, even those with three bedrooms. Here at Granada, thankfully, we have 2 baths in the 2 and 3 bedroom apartments, something that is not at all common in the Boston area, not only in rental apartments but even in private homes! That is really something to be grateful for in a world in which over 72% of all human beings go to bed with NO roof over their heads, let alone 2 bathrooms! Complaining about such "silly" things as billiard balls, computers and gym equipment makes us look like a spoiled bunch of "brats". We not only have a beautiful roof, but we have huge windows and balconies, modern appliances and lovely surroundings, all for a reasonable price. So I won't "sweat the small stuff"; we can always make our own "social life" with friends and buy our own sports or computer equipment. Most rental apartment complexes do not have "social directors" anyway; mostly, that's in condominium or assisted living complexes. The most important thing is having a comfortable, safe place to live!

Your opinion will change if you ever get water in your apartment. MPA did nothing for me. The water came down from apt. 509,to 409 to 309 to 209 my apartment and 109. I walked into a mess. they never called me to warn me, never gave me instructions, never paid for my damages, abandoned me in a time of crises. I wrote a letter to the president of MPA, Vise President the whole management team and never recieved a response. You would think I never paid my rent. I am a excellent resident and was treated like trash. I also wrote to the boston globe, because they wrote an article in the boston globe that contridicted everyhting I experienced. I can't wait until my lease is up.

I agree ever since the new management took over it has been horrible. I enjoyed living here before that, I resigned my lease a month before I heard they were going to sell the property. The only reason I resigned was that I knew I could transfer to another property. Now I'm stuck here driving over 100 miles a day to work. They refused to work with me, they would not even return my phone calls after the initial call. Still to this day I have called the leasing company multiple times with no response. HORRIBLE MANAGEMENT!!!! I CAN NOT STRESS THIS MORE.

The staff responds to any serious problems such as plumbing issues immediately. I have to rate them an A plus on their response time to emergencies, such as an overflowing sink or toilet. They are there for us when it counts! I always get polite answers to my questions, no matter how busy it is in the office. I know that is difficult to do, having worked in a busy office myself for many years with angry people on the phone. There is also an after hours answering service with LIVE operators who can help right away in an emergency (they got maintenence to come to my apt. within 3 minutes of my call!); it's not a voice mail system as the previous management had. That is a definite improvement over the older system!

No offense to the people with water damage...but Granada isn't responsible..that's why they make you sign a waiver to get your own renter's insurance. I know it kinda sucks but it isn't on them..if you have renter's insurance it should have been fine and you would have had to sign something saying you were covered for 50K or something like that.

In response to Anonymous, I have lived here 3 years. I loved in un Equity, but when MPA took over everything went down hill. I pay for two bathrooms and have had constant trouble with one. The last time that same toilet backed-up I was told very rudely to USE THE OTHER BATHROOM, it took three phone calls to get her to finally send maintenance up. As far as your lease goes the only thing you can depend on is the agreed up monthly rent (which has gone up considerable each year since I moved here). Like many other tennants, I pay my rent faithfully, respect the property and I am considerate of my neighbors, apparently that does not means anything to MPA Granada Highland, Malden, MA. I am also looking for another complex when my lease is up.
