We have only been living in the Village for a few months, but so far have not experienced any of the horrors that are describe in previous reviews. The apartment is very spacious and has been kept up quite nicely. The management and maintenance has been incredibly helpful and quick to respond to any issues that we have had. We lived in Boston for several years before moving to Mansfield and in comparison to city living the Village is very quiet. Anywhere you live you are going to have young kids hanging out outside; we all did it when we were young. These kids are doing what kids do. I have never had any problems; they move out of the streets for oncoming cars and I have not heard of any instances of vandalism and have never felt unsafe. Having grown up in the area (a typical suburban middle class upbringing), the Village is not a place that I will stay forever to raise my family; however, it is a great place for my husband and me until we do start that family.

Check the police reports. The Mansfield News www.townonline.com/mansfield -- I didn't pull that out of thin air.

Here are two more from the 3/17/06 police reports:

11:46 a.m. - A Francis Avenue resident came into the station to report his license plate on the front of his car had been stolen.

A 16-year-old Francis Avenue male was arrested for possession of a Class D substance and receiving stolen property valued over $250.

wow.. those are really big offences.. NOT..
a stolen and plate and a probable pot posession. OH NO...not that!
I lived in Everett for 2 years. there was MUCH more crime there than living at the village. I have never felt unsafe living there. Yes there are kids that hang out, but kids will be kids.

Good use of "not" ... good to see you still in the 80s.

(a) You seemed to ignore the stolen property over $250.

(b) Saying the Depot is better than Everett is like saying a medium security prison is better than a maximum security prison.

(c) Feel free to check out the police reports from 6/23 (www.townonline.com/mansfield). You won't find a stolen car mentioned ... NOT!
