Recently Applebriar residents received a letter refuting the problems that have been noted on this web site. In my opinion an organization that feels they have to respond to negative comments might have something to hide.
I have been in Applebriar for a little under two years I will be moving out when my lease is up. My opinion of Applebriar is below.
Bad:
Since I have moved in my rent has been raised $140 in 18 months.
The entrance to the complex has been torn up (road in disrepair) the entire time I lived here, long after the repairs were completed on route 20 the entrance still had not been repaired. Only recently did they fill in two very large and deep holes at the entrance.
The office staff isn't very friendly and is only helpful to the extent as to not be directly rude.
The after hours staff is not the least bit helpful.
Dislike the idea of a new clubhouse, having torn up the tennis/basketball court to build it. As far as I know they have no intention on building new ones.
The washer and dryer were switched, both were old units when we moved into the apartment and the washer had to be replaced shortly after we moved in. Was replaced with an older washer, not a new one.
Good:
The grounds are nice, lots of trees and a nice brook. Although there is a shooting range close, I rarely hear the shooting and it has never been enough to bother me.
The maintenance staff have been very helpful and I have never had any difficulty getting things fixed. When there were problems with the dishwashing machine they replaced it with a new one. Not a top of the line one but new.
The garage is nice but not worth the continual rise in the price of the rent.
One of the few complexes in the area with washer and dryers or even hook-ups.
Because of the price, the uninterested office staff and the obvious dislike of children by other residents (as is easy to see in the other comments on this page) I wouldn't recommend this complex, especially to families with children.
