Moved into the apartments here (3rd floor) when we relocated in Fall of 2006. I admit we were in a bit of a time crunch, and somewhat sticker-shocked on the pricing coming from out West (about double housing cost increase), otherwise we might have looked a little longer and discovered the following:
* Poorly maintained common areas.
Hallways commonly have pieces of trash or food garbage that is not removed or cleaned for days. Lights both inside and out burn out and remained un-replaced for months. Broken security doors were unaddressed for months. The doggie "pickup" stations have bags only for about 1 week a month if that, aggrevating the problem of people picking up after their pets. Probable safety violations of no screens in hallway windows (all floors), thereby resulting in bugs of all kinds in the halls. Their covered parking is laughably more of a hazard than protector for vehicles, as birds living above the cars have more than made their mark .
I actually have trouble keeping this list short there are so many examples.
* Poor interior maintenance.
Really shoddy workmanship shows here. We made somewhat of an issue about not accepting an apartment with dirty carpets or those that smelled [we had had a previous lease where the apartment (after being closed up for the duration of the working day) would smell very strongly of cigarette smoke, which permeated our belongings undesirable as we are nonsmokers]. They told us that we were to receive new carpet and they had the kitchen and baths resurfaced as well. While new, the carpet they put in is of such low quality is constantly sheds, and actually was not installed properly next to the walls. The laminate they covered over the old laminated areas with is already peeling back, and I ve since discovered areas near the bathtub that had water damage and was shoddily quick-fixed with some putty that never dried and comes right off the wall. Countertops damaged as well. Doorknobs dented and air filters never changed, the cheapest appliances available in kitchen (but not wholly unexpected, as it is an apartment). Maintenance requests responded to slowly and they never leave a work order so you end up guessing if they even came at all sometimes.
* Vandalism
I suppose I m not even much surprised to have learned there was considerable vandalism reported this summer at the clubhouse. Cars have been keyed in the parking lot and common areas graffiti-ed and/or otherwise damaged.
* Misc
Scheduled trash pickup is apparently not frequent enough for the amount of residents and dumpster sizes. Trash always is accumulating in piles outside the dumpsters and left for days in that state. The staff never seems to be capable of answering any questions regarding the condition of the building and the complex. We had water go out unexpectedly one day, and then it ran colored (rust color) the following day. I assumed there was a problem and a likely boil-alert, but when I called the complex to confirm they had no information regarding the current safety level of the water. Complex-wide maintenance on light-fixtures scheduled for one week but they were unable to say which day(s) of the week my building was likely to be worked in when asked. Basic information they just don t seem to have. The office staff seems to work long hours with minimal assistance and resources.
* Rent
So why did we even sign in the first place' Well, they had some considerable rental concessions when we signed (2 months free and $1500 in gift cards at any store), and appearances were deceiving. We have eagerly awaited the end of this lease, as breaking it would cost (no joke) around $6,000 for concessions and penalties.
In conclusion, a heavily disappointing year of my life in a quite over-priced luxury apartment complex. At close to $2,000 a month rent for a 2 bdrm I expected much better. AD2Hw9Wn8Umb3NN1w1jt

Why do you people live in these conditions? Get a copy of the State housing codes and write to the rental office and CC the town health department. I had to do that where I live and trust me, once the health department gets involved, things will get fixed - like the lighting, screens on windows, doors locking on exterior entrances...

Has the management addressed any of these issues? Has the situation improved since April 2008? I am interested in moving there but will reconsider if these issues remain. Thanks.
