Yo!

Decent so far. Watch out for the rent in year 2.

I currently live here at Royal Crest and am considering staying another year. A lot of what the other reviews are saying is very true - they'll give you a very attractive price when you move and jack it up a good deal (I was facing a $300/mo increase) to renew.

I live on the top floor and have zero noise problems. Sometimes the hallway smells because the neighbors seem to cook exotic things, but other than that I can't complain too much. I also can't comment on the responsiveness to service requests, because I've never made any.

Don't let the gym fool you, it's pretty bad. The treadmills are old... the eliptical machine used to shut off while you were on it. Pretty ghetto. There is an assortment of random dumbells, but no freeweights aside from that (a Smith machine for bench-related workouts only).

I thought the pool would be a great idea when I moved in, and the big screen TV and pool table. I haven't used any of those things once. The pool is only open part of the year and you can only go in it when there's a lifeguard. The TV and pool table are probably good if you have a family and/or know other people in the complex. Otherwise, it's not like you're going to go to the main building just to watch some TV.

I got a memo saying that we were going to have to start paying for heat, but it hasn't started yet (for me). They also use these dumb laundry cards now, so you have to walk to the main building to replenish them and do more laundry. I personally had no problem with using quarters.

All in all, my only serious complaint is the rent increases. They'll bend over backwards to get you in, but plan on paying top dollar in year two (or just plan on moving out after a year).
