I've lived in Royal Crest for 8 months now, and I really like it here. It's far from perfect, but I certainly recommend it. Here is my experience:
PROS:
-Well-kept grounds
-Security guard on duty (sometimes)
-Mostly families, so it is quiet/safe
-Price is competitive for the area
-Small gym, outdoor pool, basketball and tennis courts, community garden
-Neighbors aren t rude/too loud
-No bug or pest issues
-When talking with management they are helpful and positive
-The couple work requests I ve filled out were taken care of quickly and well
CONS:
-Can be hard to get management by phone
-Have to park a couple minutes from my unit if I come back late
-Neighbors aren't especially friendly
-No electrical outlets in my bathroom (!) though plenty in rest of apt
-Having to put cash on the laundry card can be a pain when the machine is on the opposite side of the property
-Crazy expensive ($1.75/load as of 04/09) and tiny laundry machines
I can t stress the safety enough. One day not only did I forget to lock my door behind me as I headed out to work, but the door didn t even close all the way. I came back and everything was fine. I have also felt comfortable enough to leave my car running outside for a couple minutes.
I haven t encountered any roaches or things like that in my unit (33). I can t speak for other units, though.
This is far from luxury living, but it s pretty good. I will definitely be switching to a larger apartment when my lease is up, I may or may not be staying with Royal Crest.
